MJ Leather

My name is Mayra Jones and I live in Texas. I can make anything leather related. Everything I make is 100% hand tooled and customized according to what the customer wants. Hence, I am capable of making original sketches for fully customized orders. My dream and goal is to be able to become a full time leatherworker. I started making leather products as a hobby the year before Covid hit and have tremendously expanded clientele over the past year. I have worked as a full time CPS investigator, full time Athletic coach, and now full time teacher. All back to back in the past three years. All those jobs and working with kids full filled my ego as a professional person. However, leatherwork brings true passion into my world. It has helped provide for my family out of the comfort of my home, while help focus on myself and family. I have always been an artist at heart. As a result took art in college. However, I never thought it would amount to much. Ironically, my leather work business took off on one of the toughest times in USA history. It’s safe to say that I truly see leather work as not only a trait but art.

Big Sky Mohair Cinches

About us: Each cinch is hand-tied in Bozeman, Montana, by sisters Dana and Tracy Eklund. Big Sky Mohair Cinches was born out of necessity- a horse at the therapeutic riding program where they worked required a 42″ cinch- a tough size to find! Their goal is to create a highly usable piece of tack that is as functional as it is beautiful. Because a comfortable horse can get the job done.

Grand View Pottery

Each piece is individually thrown on the wheel or constructed from a slab. I use hand mixed glazes that are food safe and can handle a ride in the dishwasher or microwave for convenience. I prefer my pots to be able to be in hands, on tables, or sitting dirty in the sink rather than tucked up in a cupboard or on display having people afraid to use them. The love of the mid-western lifestyle I was blessed to be raised in, and the love of my home state, Montana, carry strongly in my work. Community, friends and family are dear to me and often a piece is inspired or spurred on by them. The Lord has wired each one of us differently. I find great joy in being a maker. From throwing to individually pulling a handle the lovely adventure of clay holds me captive. I desire that my pieces might be ambassadors of that joy, bringing bits of happiness into others daily lives and routines.
